"Essentially"...my new release

"Essentially" is a new collection of songs which grew quite organically from musical seeds planted from late 2019 to the present late Spring of 2020. As with most of the releases in my discography, the idea for Essentially was not premeditated, but more a process by which the connecting theme revealed itself over an extended period of time. In this case, the common thread is simplicity...clearly stated and concise melodic, harmonic, and structural ideas all featuring acoustic piano. All of these pieces share that sound, from solo piano to duo, trio, and quartet settings. The essence of Essentially is that, as a lover of both structured and improvised classical piano and jazz flute, I went to a place where the lines between Jazz and Classical begin to blur. Several of these pieces (in fact all of a few of them) were largely improvised, and as a result I decided to go for the feeling more than perfection in the recordings. In my own imperfect but heartfelt life music is indeed essential, and with Essentially I'm happy to share a bit of my music with you, in hope that it helps you meet some essential needs in your life.
